What's New @ Nova

WN@N: What’s New @ Nova - September 2025

This is our new monthly series where we round up all the latest updates across the Nova Suite. Each app still gets its own detailed changelog at changelogs.novasuite.one, but if you’d rather get a high-level overview in one place, this is for you.

Welcome to the very first WN@N (What’s New @ Nova)! 🎉
This is our new monthly series where we round up all the latest updates across the Nova Suite. Each app still gets its own detailed changelog at changelogs.novasuite.one, but if you’d rather get a high-level overview in one place, this is for you.

This also marks the beginning of a new release rhythm for Nova Suite. Instead of pushing out updates randomly, we’re moving to a monthly update schedule:

  • Web apps: First week of every month
  • Mobile apps: Mid-month
  • Desktop apps: End of the month or alongside web releases

Bug fixes and smaller patches (v0.0.x style) will still roll out as needed, but new features and major improvements will be bundled into these monthly WN@N drops. This helps us pace development better, release updates more consistently, and give you a smoother overall experience.

We’re also using this first edition to catch up on some recent, previously undocumented updates (those will be noted with dates). Let’s dive in 👇

🌐 Suite-Wide Upgrades

We’ve made a couple of improvements that apply across the entire Nova Suite:

  • Login notifications: These should now reliably work across all apps.
  • Analytics & service tracking: Enabled everywhere by default to help us improve reliability, but you can fully opt out in Nova Accounts → Account > Privacy > Data Usage.

✍️ Nova Gists (v2.0.1 & v2.0.2)

Nova Gists is becoming more consistent and smoother to use:

  • Rich text editor: Markdown has been retired in favor of rich text for a unified editing experience across the suite.
  • Autosave improvements: The system is now more efficient and less likely to miss changes.
  • Autocomplete for tags: Makes organizing your gists quicker and smarter.
  • Bug fixes: Editor initialization, syncing issues, and profile picture rendering are all patched.
  • NS+ indicator: Now visible when relevant.

💬 Astro (v5.2.0)

Astro continues to evolve into your smarter, more flexible companion.

  • Astro Thinking logic updated: You can now start any chat in any mode and switch to Astro Thinking at any time, but once you send a message in Astro Thinking, the chat is locked into that mode. (This prevents weird switching issues and keeps conversations consistent.)
  • Automatic conversation titles: Your chats will now auto-name themselves.
  • Performance: Faster conversation and message loading.
  • Mobile improvements: Early polish ahead of the bigger mobile refresh.
  • Bug fixes: Viewport issues with modals and scaling inconsistencies have been resolved.

🔎 Nova Search (v5.2.0)

Nova Search got some polish and new power features this month:

  • Astro Overviews refinements: We’ve introduced a new syntax to highlight the main takeaway of summaries, and reworked them to be shorter and easier to scan. The entire Overviews UI has also been redesigned.
  • Search tags in URL bar: Tags like -n for news or -v for videos now work directly from your browser search bar if Nova Search is your default engine.
  • Caching for Astro responses: Helps reduce API strain and makes responses faster.
  • Video search fixes + sorting: Video search is working again, with new sort options by relevance, date, views, or rating. Support for more platforms (TikTok, Dailymotion, Patreon) is on the way.
  • Mobile UI improvements: Cleaner and more responsive.
